Description
The RE 12-12 and RE 12-20R are modular, recoilless De Armer Disrupters. The systems are powered by either electric or shock tube initiated 12 gauge cartridges, blank for propelling water charges and various solid and frangible projectiles. Both Disrupters can be deployed either close up in the conventional way or with a stand off from the target. The purpose of the stand off capability is to significantly reduce the potential danger to a Bomb Technician who is manually placing the Disrupter, or a robotic vehicle which is carrying it.
The tool can fire a water mass of up to 140ml (5oz) and a range of solid projectiles from the available range of 12 gauge disrupter ammunition. The RE 12-20R features an additional short 20mm rifled barrel through which lightweight frangible projectiles can be fired at high velocity with great accuracy.
